Abstract

Title cpd is prepd by Friedel-Crafts condensation of 2-thienoyl chloride with 2,3-dichloroanisole followed by demethylation to give 2,3-dichlori-4-hydroxyphenyl-2-thienyl ketone. This is then condensed with sodium chloroacetate and acidified. Purificn. is effected by recrystallisation from 1,2-dichloroethane.
