Abstract

A metal substrate is coated by immersing it in a non-electrolytic bath of pH 2-12.5 contng. the coating metal in soln. and also insol. or partially insol finely divided inert material which is also to be deposited; the bath is then heated to 65 degrees C to the b.pt., and, after the required thickness has been deposited, the substrate is withdrawn. The substrate is Fe, a metal higher than Fe in the electrochemical series, or a sensitised metal lower then Fe in the series.
