Abstract

The method which avoids the groth of infection, consists of filtering a water contg. no sterilising agent through activated carbon having a specific loading 4h-1 then mixing with at least 0.05 mg/l chlorine or equivalent quantity of other sterilising agent, as in 1915299. The activated carbon filter is divided into a first coarse-grained stage and second fine-grained stage. The water is treated with oxygen-contg. gases before entering the first stage. The carbon of the second stage is continuously reactivated, pref. by moving it in contraflow to the water, while that of the first stage is not.
