Abstract

Machine is intended for cutting to length, washing or burshing gauging and bundling asparagus. The machine consists of a ring fited, on its periphery, with compartments with base closing systems operated by axes and levers, a circle, integral with the lower part of the compartments supports the ends of the shoots. By rotating the assembly the prod. passes successively from the cutting to the washing position, the speed of the ring being set according to the dexterity of the operator. The shoots are cut to the desired length by a circular saw, with special teeth, placed below the ring. The shoots are next washed by upper and lower rows of jets of water under pressure. At the next position the shoots are gauged and graded for size into three classes: 12-15 mm, 16-24 mm, and above 25 mm. Washing and brushing is efficient because the shoots are supported at only two small points; gauging is perfectly regular as it is effected at the ends of the shoots.
