Abstract

A device for treating rectangular section loops of reinforced elastomeric material to convert them into covered transmission belts of trapezoidal section, by a sequence of operations including bevelling, and covering, comprises a complex support for the loops to present them to bevelling and covering devices by successively displacing them and eventually disengaging them. The device pref. rotates about an axis and passes the loops to the operations in successive positions equally spaced about the axis. Bevelling is pref. towards the centre of rotation, the loops being covered with a fabric covering which is folded and pressed into the structure. A rapid continuous process for fabricating rubber transmission belts is provided.
