Abstract

The effluent first passes to a reception chamber where it is aerated. It is then transported to a settling tank where it is heated to between 0-45 degrees C until a biologically active sludge is formed with a supernatant liquur. A clarifier receives and clarifies part of the liquor to form a clarified effluent while part of the active sludge and liquor is re-cycled to the reception chamber.
