Fluoroalkylsulphonamino-diaryl-(thio)-ethers and derivs., herbicides, antiinflammatory agents Title cpds. of formula (where Rf = fluoro lower alkyl having >=2 F atoms attached to the alpha-C atom, R = H, CN, alkyl, alkylsulphonyl, a cation -CO-A-R', R' = alkyl,A = -O- or a bond, B = O, S, -SO-, -SO2-, Ar = phenyl, naphthyl Y,Y' = halo alkyl, alkoxy, nitro, amino, alkylamide haloalkyl, hydroxy, dialkylamino, carbalkoxyamino alkoxyamino, alkylthio, alkylsulphonyl, alkanoyl, dialkylsulphamoyl, alkylsulphinyl,n, n' = 0, 1 or 2, the aliphatic gps. Rf, R, R', Y, Y' have 1-4C atoms) are herbicides and plant growth regulants. Some of the cpds. have anti-inflammatory, analgesic, antipyretic or antimicrobial activity. Certain of the cpds. esp. when Rf = perfluoroalkyl are polymerisation catalysts or initiators e.g. polymerisation of epoxides and vinylethers.
