Abstract
Plating bath for continuous recycling operation and rapid electrodeposition of Ni, comprises an aq. soln. of NiSO4, buffered by boric acid to pH 2.8-4.8, maintained by addns. of NiCO3. Organic adjuvants are (a) sodium naphthalene-1,3,6-trisulphone and/or sodium benzoyl sulphimide, and (b) 2-propyn-1-ol, which are stable in the presence of O2. The electrolyte is continuously monitored to measure the individual concns., and measurements are linked electrically with feed hoppers for each component. The NiCO3 feed is controlled by pH, feeds of (a) by uv spectrophotometry at 202-236nm, and feed of (b) by differential potentiometry. Fine and automatic control of bath constitution is achieved.
