Abstract
The additive in powder form comprises: (CaO + Ca(OH)2) 55-65%, CaCO3 5-10%, Na2 CO3 6-12%, CaF2 3-7%, (FeO + Fe2O3) 6-12%, MnO2 5-12%. Particle size is pref. 80-100 mesh. Additive is used at a rate of 4 kg./tonne cast metal, and efficient removal of S or P is achieved simply in the casting ladle without requiring any ancillary equipment.
