Abstract

Lapping or polishing of round section continuous material is effected by passage through a set of radially arranged tools, which are hydraulically powered by an elastically deformable pressure chamber surrounding them, in which a pulsating pressure medium is applied. The pressure chamber may be totally or partially made of elastic material and the tools have to be secured against sideways displacement by the workpiece. The hydraulically produced pulsating movement can be closely controlled and set so as to provide maximum stock removal or finish.
