Coolant fluid is directed to the contact area between the grinding wheel and work by one or more jets 5 each operating at a pressure of not less than 1201b. per square inch, preferably between 150 and 200 1b. per square inch. The nozzles may be shaped as shown in Figs. 2 and 4. The wheel is enclosed by guards, not shown, and may be used for grinding threads or gears.
