Abstract

Perfluorinated polyethylene granules are moulded to articles pref. >7 kg. in weight by applying gradual pressure to the granules in a mould to a pressure of 140-350 kg./cm2, then relaxing the pressure after a certain time at the same rate as it was increased. The formed article is then subjected to (pref. a series of) strain relaxing processes by heating to 260 degrees C., holding at the temp. for a while, then cooling slowly while rotating all the while. Process gives articles of reduced thermal expansion coefficient difference to metal plates which they are subsequently adhered.
