Glass containers can be made more break-resistant by just after forming and while still hot treating them with (a) SnCl4 + isofurfurol or TiCl4 + Ti(OtBu)4 solns., (b) treating at 450 degrees C with SnCl4 in vapour form, cooling to 80-180 and treating with (c) polyethylene-glycol monostearate soln. or emulsion.
