Abstract

Articles are made of silicon nitride by mixing powdered silicon, with a polymer dispersion and opt. with heat-resistant fibres (e.g. silicon nitride whiskers or aluminium silicate) moulding into shape, heating to remove the dispersant (before or after moulding) removing the polymer (pref. by heating) and firing in a N2 atmos. to prepare the nitride.
