Paint compsn. for the protection of boats against the effects of seaweeds, algae, barnacles calcinated deposits etc. comprises Cu(OH)2 rendered unstable and formed by a mixture of anhydrous CuSO4 in an equimolecular amount with wing-growers chalk (lime) the being mixed with water their neutrality vertified with phenolphthalein, an emulsifer, underwater varnish and bentonite in appropriate proportions, the amount of bentonite being 5-6% based on the water used. The mixture renders the Ca(OH)2 unstable.
