Abstract

Machine for cutting the cap from a blown glass bulb in the fabrication of household glassware, e.g. wine glasses etc. comprising (a) a series of supports rotating around their mutually parallel axes and carrying the glass to be treated by its foot or base, and (b) a series of disc saws also rotating around their mutually parallel axes, each operating on, and at right angles to the axis of, at least one rotating glass, the special feature of the above arrangement being that the axis of support of the glass and that of each disc saw is so inclined that the centre of gravity of the cap being removed at the end of the sawing lies below and in vertical alignment with the small part of the glass still not sawn through and connecting it to the cap.
