Abstract

The process relates to objects cast in a pattern mould with graphite surfaces. The latter receive a coating consisting of a refractory oxide with a thickness of approx 0.13-1.15mm, and the mould is maintained during the application of the coating at 120 degrees-205 degrees C. Steel is then poured into the pattern after the mould has been maintained at >100 degrees C between the application of the coating and casting.
