Abstract

A reversibly - rotatable tumbler drum in which components are treated by immersing the drum in a bath of electrolyte or chemical soln. comprises a longitudinal loading door, which is hinged on an axis parallel to the drum's axis of rotation, and is automatically opened and closed by cam action which is entirely dependent on direction of rotation of the drum, i.e. the door opens and stays open for one direction and shuts and stays shut for reverse rotation. Gravity loading and discharge of the drum is facilitated by simply selecting the appropriate direction of rotation for the desired door position.
