Abstract

Solids e.g. minerals are dewatered by adding to the pulp prior to filtering (a) an anionic or non-ionic reagent (similar to collector agents used in flotation processes) derived from fats or hydrocarbons and (b) a wetting agent selected from the alkyl derivs of sulphosuccinic or sulphosuccinamic acid. The water content of the cake after filtration is considerably reduced. cf prior art.
