Catalyst regenerator, esp. for use in catalytic cracking of hydrocarbons, has two regeneration zones, the first a conventional fluidised bed, the second in a return pipe to the cracker; also pref. to a second, opt. fluidised bed located beneath the first. Method reduces volume required.
