Abstract

A heat exchanger comprising an inner cylinder fitted with lateral perforated partitions pref. in thin copper alloy foil, through which circulates the higher temp. liquid, e.g. methanol at about -50 degrees C, liquid coolant e.g. nitrogen at -196 degrees C is ducted through an outer annulus to an upper outlet point. Nitrogen vaporisation in the outer annulus cools the liquid withou creating blockages or local solidification build up in the inner cylinder due to the mixing effect of the perforations. The device combines high thermal efficiency rates with an ease of fabrication.
