Abstract
A process taking place in a metallurgical convertor or blast furnace is controlled by measuring the absorption of radiation traversing the fume leaving the convertor to deduce the amount and/or nature of dust in the fume. Specif. the radiation may be of hyperfrequency range. A laser beam may be used in conjunction with hyperfrequency radiation.
