Abstract

Antibacterial cephalosporin compsns Compns. contg one or more of (a) 7-(1H-tetrazol-1-ylacetamido)-3-(5-methyl-1,3,4-thiadiazol-2-ylth- iomethyl)-3-cephem-4-carboxylic acid sodium salt (I) in alpha or beta form (b) 3,7-disubstd. cephalosporin derivs (II) described in NL 6805179 or their salts. (c) Esters of II are of value as antibacterials. I are obtained by appropriate alcohol treatment MeOH (>70%) or EtOH (>80%) converts alpha(5H2O) to beta(3/2 H2O) and MeOH (70%) or EtOH (80%) gives the opposite conversion. Further dessication gives the alpha and beta anhydrous forms which have increased stability.
