Abstract

Radioactive effluent contng. Cs 137 produced by the treatment of irradiated nuclear fuel elements is decontaminated by contact with a colloidal suspension of nickel ferrocyanide. The ratio of nickel to ferrocyanide ions is 1.05, and the treatments is carried out at pH 11. The treatment produces a high degree of decontamination, using considerably less reactant than required in prior art. Effluent with a wide range of contamination degree can be treated with equal efficiency.
