Abstract
Converter has a separated double feed, with an axial circuit for oxidant gas and a peripheral circuit for coolant. Into the peripheral circuit is injected a liquid coolant, instead of a gas. The liquid evaporates instantaneously at the lance tip, and is e.g. water under pressure, liquid CO2 or a liquid containing hydrocarbons. Preferably the oxidant is pure O2.
