Abstract

The fruit juice press includes a perforated compression cylinder divided by a combined compression base into two compression chambers. Pistons located in each cylinder are actuated in the direction of the compression base by screwed stems situated outside the chambers. The combined compression base consists of a hollow body which fulfils a multiple function; apart from receiving the pressure it serves for the supplementary evacuation of the juice, the remainder of the latter coming out through the perforated jacket of the compression cylinder; it is then fed to a tank underneath the press. The cylinder is fitted with closing lids for each chamber; they are held in position by stirrups and locking pins. The duration of the compression is reduced without affecting the operating time; this has a favourable effect on the quantity and the quality of the juice.
