Abstract

Stackable plastic bearks which have their lips rolled back to a depth of pref. about 5 mm. with a clearance of pref. 1 - 2 mm. to encounter the crest of the roll of the beaker below with a contact angle of approx. 90 degrees. A suitable combination of a punch and jaws is disclosed for forming the lip profiles. The depth and spread of the lips ensures clearance between the walls and bases of stacked cups to facilitate release, e.g. in automatic vending machines. The rolled lip is comfortable to drink from and can provide an insulated rim when carrying hot contents.
