Abstract

Glass filaments or other fibres are wound by feeding the filaments to a rotating element which rotates at a first speed and is then accelerated to bring about drawing down of the filament material to the desired extend, the speed being monitored so that when it reaches a predetermined second value, counting of the revolutions made by the rotating element is started and continued until the length of the material subjected to the desired degree of drawing and wound on the rotating element has been measured out.
