Abstract

Heat and/or foam is produced in cosmetics by the reaction of an oxidiser (pref. H2O2) with a reducer (pref. ascorbic acid) in the presence of a catalyst (pref. CuSO4) and a neutralising agent (pref. a(Bi)carbonate). The product is pref. packed into two separate compartments which are mixed on use. They are used in self-heating shaving creams, shampoos massage creams and depilatories. The components are non-toxic odourless and non-discolouring.
