Abstract

Catalyst, specif. for the oxidn. of ethylene to AcOH comprises V pentoxide and Pd plus 0.1 to 30%, pref. 0.1 to 10% wt. of an alkali or alkaline earth element in the form of a metal or a metal compd. The Pd content of final catalyst is 0.0001 to 1% wt. Pref. alkali element is Li. Used of this new catalyst gives improved yields of purer AcOH.
