Abstract

The annular space separating concentrically disposed moving parts is filled with a liquid thermosetting resin subsequently polymerised 'in situ'. The resin may be flexible polyester, epoxy resin, silicone or polyurethane elastomer, and may have catalysts, plasticisers and other additives included which increase flexibility and resilience while maintaining adhesion between the parts. Partic useful for fixing a ship's propellor to a collar keyed onto the motor shaft, the annular housing between the collar and the propellor housing being filled with liquid resin. The joint is less costly and easier to form than a separate elastic joint.
