Abstract

The fuel cell is the type using a gaseous fuel and a gas as the combustion supporter, the two being separated in the cell by a thin membrane which acts as an ion exchanger. Humidifying filters are placed in the inlet pipes for each of the two gases. Within each chamber of the cell are a series of projections from the walls which guide the gas to the membrane, and on the projections are mounted radioisotope sources which ionise the gases.
