Abstract

Spring-loaded relief valve and ancillary passage for recycling melt in the shot chamber of a (vertical) injection moulding unit back to the plasticisation reservoir in the event of set up or packing of the melt in the mould cavity or feed runners. Esp. for equipment serving a variety of different moulds and shot sizes, partic. bottle stoppers. Provides automatic relief if the shot volume exceeds the cavity volume and avoids machine damage or 'flashing' at the mould parting lines.
