Abstract

1-Carboxyalkyl-2-methyl-4-nitro-5-amino-imidazoles. Novel title cpds. where alkyl represents methyl, ethyl or propyl are prepd. by reaction of the corresponding 1-carboxyalkyl-2-methyl-4-nitro-imidazole with hydroxylamine or its salts in an inert solvent (pref. ethanol) at 35-65 degrees C, the free acid being neutralised with alkali metal hydroxide.
