Abstract

Food products, such as sacks or heaps of grain are protected from insects and other parasites by means of an insecticidal product diffused directly into the grain in the form of a vapour and the grain itself does not come into contact with the insecticide. The device for effecting the process consists of a straight, rigid, perforated or porous tube enclosing a wick throughout its length. The tube is screwed at one end into a detachable receiver for holding the insecticide. For use the tube is introduced into the mass of the grain. Good distribution of the insecticide in vapour form is obtained which gives an effective protection to grain and other food products.
