Abstract

2-Trifluoromethylphenyl-aminido-ureas are useful as anti-inflammatories and analgesics. They are opt. substd. by halogen in the phenyl ring; the 5-chloro cpd. is prefd. They are prepd. by treating the corresponding biguanide with NaNO2 in HCl at 0-10 degrees C for 2-24 hr. In an example, the mixture is then filtered and the precipitate recrystallised from butanol to give the nitrate of the amidino-urea; the free base, or other salts, are prepd. conventionally from this salt.
