Compds. (I) and their salts with acids and bases. R = cyclohexyl substd. by aminomethyl or by one or more amino, (1-5C)-alkylamino, (1-5C)-dialkylamino, sulphomethylamino and opt. by one or more OH or 1-5C-alkanoyloxy groups or a phenyl (1-5C)-alkyl radical wherein the alkyl radical is substd. by (ClCH2CH2)2N or piperidyl. Anti-tumour agents of low toxicity. (b) (I R= aminocyclohexyl) (I, R= sulphomethylamino-cyclohexyl) In any reaction, free amino groups are protected and the protecting agent subsequently removed. (II) is the aglycone of daunorubicin (rubidomycin) and prepd. therefrom by acid hydrolysis.
