Abstract

A tool for machining curved surfaces on gas or steam turbine blades and also for cutting taps (internal screw thread tools) is esp. useful in machining steel containing 11 - 13% Cr, 0.1 - 0.25% C, 0.7% Mo and 0.3% V and having a Brinell hardness of 125 - 250 kg/mm2. The tool has the cutting teeth inclined at an angle of 15 - 45 degrees, pref. 25 - 30 degrees, to the axis of rotation of the tool, and may be convex (shaped like a mushroom) or concave. The teeth are flat at the top.
