Abstract

Seal for high capacity high pressure vessel consists of rectangular-section metal ring, with similar modulus of elasticity and coefficient of thermal expansion to that of metal of vessel. Two grooves are formed in adjacent faces of the ring, those facing the cover and side wall of vessel, and both positioned as far as possible from the common apex of the two faces. These grooves receive seals of elastomeric or plastics material. Used for seal of autoclaves, etc.
