Abstract

Transesterification with simultaneous polycondensation of aryl diesters of terephthalic and/or isophthalic acids e.g. a mixture of 10 to 70% molar of a diaryl terephthalate and 30 to 90% isophthalic acids (preferably the diphenyl, dicresyl or dixylenyl esters) and diphenols e.g. 2,2-bis-(4-hydroxyphenol-) propane in the presence of 0.001 to 0.1% wt. of arsenic or antimony pentoxide as catalyst.
