Abstract

Fusible sheet material (polyethylene-coated metal/paper laminates) is continually formed into tubing around a hollow vertical mandrel contg. a screw which doses granular feedstocks (foodstuffs) into (tetrahedral) sachets being formed from the tubular sheets below the end of the mandrel. Pref. the feed screw is hollow to allow inflation and blanketing of the sachets by an inert gas. Compact pack forming/filling/sealing/unit minimises risks of contamination.
