Abstract
Alkyl aromatic cpds. contg. at least one alkyl group are oxidised in the liquid phase at a temp. between -30 degrees and 100 degrees C using as oxidation system a metal cpd. chosen from trivalent cobalt and manganese salts and an acid catalyst in which the dissociation constant is more than 10-3 and which is stabilised under the reaction condition.
