Abstract
Blast furnace slag is treated in granulation pot to form granulated slag with high alpha coefficient and hydraulic characteristics. Granulating water is injected under pressure 4 Kg/cm2 and usually 10 Kg/cm2. Preferably, uncooled, recycled water is used at temp. between 85 degrees and 95 degrees C. Specifically, blast furnace's cooling water is used at temp. from 40 degrees-50 degrees C, which is purified in decanting basin with filter base and reintegrated in furnace's water circuit. Granulated slag so obtained has high mechanical resistance to compression.
