Abstract

Consist of a basic active drug adsorbed on colloidal particles of a physiologically harmless polymer which is hydratable in the gastro-intenstinal tract. The polymer is the result of emulsion polymerisation of (a) at least one of acrylic methacrylic, crotonic, itaconic, or maleic acids or maleic esters or anhydride or sulphonated or phosphorylated styrene and (b) at least one of vinyl chloride, acetate, propionate or ethers, hydroxyethyl-methacrylate, acrylonitrile, ethylene-, styrene-, or lower alkyl acrylates or methacrylates. The incorporated drug should contain a basic N-group when the polymer has an acid function and vice versa. The prepn. may be in solid or liquid form.
