Abstract

Composition comprises (A) a hydrophobic thermoplastic resin and (B) 5 to 50%, with respect to (A), of a water-soluble, surface active resin and/or a water-insoluble hydrophilic resin. The water-soluble resin has a surface tension, in 4% aqueous solution, of is not >64 dyne/cm. The hydrophilic resin has a solubility parameter of at least 14. The resins are sufficiently compatible to give mouldings having satisfactory mechanical characteristics and the surfaces of such mouldings can be hydrophilised without impairment of these characteristics. The hydrophilic effect lasts for an almost unlimited time. Used for the manufacture of eg. films, fibres and sheets.
