Abstract

The feed hopper is fitted with an improved scraping device which completely clears paste from the hooper into the mould entrances. The prevents accumulations of paste in angles of the hopper which can rapidly form hard deposits and interfere with the consistent production of satisfactory mouldings. Essentially, the scraping device comprises two arms each fitted with a blade so that one blade is facing and parallel to the front wall of the hopper and the other blade is facing and parallel to the rear wall of the hopper. The arms are mechanically linked and driven so that the two blades move successively through the following cycle:- First the blade scrapes its facing hopper wall from top to bottom; Next is moves along the floor of the hopper, scraping along the tops of the mould feed ports to the half-way line of the floor; next the blade is raised to its original height and finally it moves once more to the top of the wall. The blades should conform closely to the configurations of the hopper interior.
