Abstract

Treatment of powdered or fibrous materials with a pressurised gas. G6B. and more especially the atomisation of pharmaceutical materials for treatment of bovine mastitis, which consists of introducing a propellant gas under pressure into an essentially cylindrical moulded plastic chamber through the central aperture of a plug or other type closure in the wide end, via an inner chamber forming the cavity in a conical guide member and radial and peripheral grooves fromed by axial and radial projections respectively on the mating surfaces of the plug with the cylindrical wide end of the conical member and of the outside of the wide end with the inner cylinder surface of the outer chamber, in such a way that the resultant gas streams follow the exterior surface of the cone and impinge on the inner surface of the outer chamber near the point at which it tapers at a slope equal to that of the cone to an end of reduced diameter fitted with an outlet pipe or nozzle for the atmosied material, axially opposite the apex of the cone.
