Abstract

Sliding axles are arranged perpendicularly to at least one partition to which they are connected. Another plate is arranged perpendicularly to the first, being held in position in the die frame in such a manner that it can be detached from the other plates. Sliding partitions constitute the small side if dies for slabs are concerned, while the partition held in the die frame in a manner permitting it to be removed from the other plates, forms one of the large sides. Sliding the plate with the aid of the guided axles permits the sections provided to be adjusted with great precision and gives the partitions a tilt in order to make allowances for contraction arising during solidification. Feed device is controllable from without, permitting simple regulation, thus doing away with tool operations on the die frame. The sliding partitions can be freely moved if the pressure exerted by the partition arranged perpendicularly to the former and held detachably in the die frame is removed. Advantageous in comparison to prior art dies not permitting compensation of the contraction inevitably arising on the small sides of slabs of considerable width.
