Abstract

Leather is dressed by making laminate of leather, film of coating material and parting layer, then removing parting layer. Method overcomes various familiar disadvantages, such as saturation of leather with coating liquid, impairment of porosity, and permits use of polyurethane coatings, which impart improved wear resistance and flexibility. Coating material can be nitrocellulose or polyester-or polyether-polyurethane with hardener.
