Abstract

Coating compositions based on polyvinyl acetate or polyacrylate emulsions and containing 5 to 35%, especially 10 to 20%, by weight (based on solids) of tall oil products. The fatty acid derivatives act as plasticisers and flexible films are obtained. Lower temperature of film-forming are possible than for unplasticised polymer. Uses are for the temporary protection of non-porous substrates. The plasticiser and emulsion are either mixed together at 20 deg.-95 deg.C or a solution of the plasticiser in an organic solvent is mixed with the emulsion at 20 deg.C.
